University of East Anglia’s Catering service are looking for a self-motivated Assistant Restaurant and Functions Manager working in the Modern Life Café at the internationally renowned Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts (SCVA).
Working closely with the Restaurant and Functions Manager, you will provide an essential role in both the daily service of the counter-service restaurant, and at our conference & banqueting events.
You will also enjoy working in the beautiful glass-fronted restaurant in the Grade II listed gallery, providing high quality service for a range of customers, from our regular coffee and cake art gallery visitors to large scale banqueting events.
Is this role for me?
You will communicate with and motivate front line staff; help to improve sales; offer exceptional customer service; enjoy event co-ordination and execution; maintain high standards; comply with all food safety requirements; and promote new initiatives.
You will need experience in a catering customer facing role; be an excellent team player; possess good IT skills; and be able to communicate successfully with a variety of staff and customers. Some experience in banqueting service is ideal as you will be required to supervise functions and events however full training will be given. A professional image suitable for a customer facing role is essential.
You will be required to work any five days from seven, covering mornings and evenings as the business deems it necessary, therefore a flexible approach to working hours is essential.
