Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Event Manager to join the Sales & Events team at Warwick Conferences, part of the world-leading University of Warwick. If you enjoy taking an event from the first client conversation to the last delegate leaving the building, this is the role for you.

You will look after your own portfolio of conferences and events, working closely with organisers to understand what they want to achieve and making sure every detail is right. This role will focus on our Scarman and Radcliffe venues, and in time The Slate.

What you will be doing

  • Taking over new bookings from our Sales team and building strong, trusted relationships with each client.
  • Meeting organisers to understand their objectives, then planning every element of their event.
  • Managing delegate registration, payments, sponsorship, exhibitions and speaker liaison.
  • Entering all requirements on our booking system so clients get an accurate final event schedule.
  • Working with suppliers, conference assistants and our Duty Management Team so each event moves smoothly from planning to delivery.
  • Spotting upselling opportunities, upholding booking terms and conditions, and making sure all costs are charged correctly, including cancellation charges.
  • Representing Warwick Conferences at functions and exhibitions and helping to bring in new business.
  • Finding ways to improve how we work and the information we give our clients.

About you

You will have experience in a customer-facing events or hospitality role. You will also have hands-on experience of delegate registration, speaker liaison, exhibition planning, sponsorship and payment processes. You will also bring:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a confident, assertive manner and a good listening ear.
  • A tactful, diplomatic approach with clients and suppliers.
  • Strong attention to detail and the time management to run several events at once.
  • Good IT skills, including MS Office, databases and a conference or events booking system.
  • The ability to work well in a team and on your own initiative.
  • Flexibility to adapt as the needs of the business change.
