About the role
The Linguistics Research Department at UCL is looking to hire a syntactician with a commitment to world-class research. The successful candidate will have a clear program of research within theoretical syntax. He or she should have experience with research methods beyond standard grammaticality judgment gathering. The successful candidate will have a record of high-quality publications commensurate with the stage of their academic career. He or she will have the expertise and a record of research in languages complementary to those studied by other syntacticians in the department and contribute to the department’s research, teaching, graduate supervision and administration. The appointee will take up their position on 1 September 2023. The appointment start date is flexible, but ideally would begin in September 2023. The appointment will be made within grade 8 (Lecturer) beginning at an annual salary of £47,414 or grade 9 (Associate Professor) beginning at an annual salary of £60,592 (As stated on the UCL career site. About you
Applicants must hold a doctorate in linguistics or a closely related field at the time of hire and will be engaged in a program of original research that enhances the department’s research portfolio and gives rise to PhD projects and applications for research funding. Applicants must be able to teach core modules in syntax. They must also be willing to develop and oversee an educational programme that involves students in field research techniques with London’s language communities.
