About the vacancy: We have a vacancy to join the School of Applied Sciences as a Senior Lecturer in Conservation Science. The post holder will support students on our conservation and environmental science programmes, by contributing to teaching and learning, and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects across the discipline. Occasionally, successful candidates will also be required to support teaching teams in other programmes within the School (e.g. Biological Sciences). It is also expected that the post holder will contribute to research within the School, including within one of its research centres, such as the Centre for Research in Biosciences (CRIB).
This is a full-time permanent post. Preference will be given to applicants who can deliver teaching across the broad conservation and environmental sciences with an expertise in forest ecology or habitat management. A growing research profile that aligns to research within the School would be an advantage.
About you: Candidates will be expected to have a science-based PhD relevant to conservation science. We are looking for candidates with a background and broad knowledge across conservation science, preferably with expertise in forest ecology or habitat management and who have experience of teaching and assessment at an HEI. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate experience of devising and delivering teaching, including experience of leadership at a module/programme level.
We are looking for candidates who align to the UWE values. Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate their experience of leading and motivating groups of people, collegiate working and their organisational skills. Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate how they will keep abreast of latest developments in this subject area and external best practice benchmarks.
The successful candidate will be supported in this role by an experienced senior lecturer as a mentor. Candidates will be expected to undertake the PG Certificate in Learning and Teaching in HE, unless they have already obtained it.
