UWE Bristol is one of the largest universities in the South West and one of the largest employers in the Bristol region. We currently have an opportunity for two half time (18.5 hours/week) Subject Support Librarians. One post will have a specific focus on the College of Business and Law (CBL) and be based at the Frenchay Campus Library. The second post will support the College of Health, Science and Society (CHSS) and be based at the Glenside Campus Library until such time as this closes and operations are transferred to Frenchay Campus.
As one of a team led by the College Librarians for Business & Law and Health, Science & Society, respectively, you will be providing direct support for students, staff and researchers in the Colleges on both academic skills and supporting the effective use of our collections and services (e.g. online reading lists).
You will support students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, assisting in design and delivering embedded teaching on information and academic skills, such as critical and reflective writing, planning and structuring writing, note taking, and finding and evaluating information sources. You will deliver stand-alone academic skills sessions which are open to all students from all faculties, some of which are specifically aimed at international students. You will build and maintain strong working relationships with College colleagues to deliver high quality teaching and support.
In both of these roles, you will be involved in the creation and implementation of Technology Enhanced Learning. This may take the form of online workbooks, quizzes and tutorials which are embedded into programme design.
The roles will involve working closely with other Subject Librarians, staffing the enquiry desk, answering online queries and supporting our Ask a Librarian instant chat service, as well as having opportunities to be involved in projects spanning Library Services.
