We are looking to recruit a Director of Innovation

The Opportunity:

The post holder will be responsible for the development and delivery of the Campus Innovation strategy; with key objectives being the creation of an innovation eco-system which fosters and supports commercialisation opportunities within Animal Bioscience and One Health, Aquaculture and Agri-tech (3As)

The post holder is responsible for the operational and financial sustainability  of the Roslin Innovation Centre (RIC) including recruitment and retention of tenants, as well as managing innovation activities, which foster integration with the wider campus (in line with BBSRC Research and Innovation Campus strategy).

This role will lead, motivate and manage the RIC & Innovation support team and  is accountable for all business planning and financial management of Roslin Innovation Centre and associated Innovation activities;   including negotiation of service level agreements, marketing and communication, space allocation and lease management as well as ensuring the RIC branding covers all Campus Innovation activities.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience, with a strong understanding of business development in a research environment. Experience within Animal BioSciences, Agri-tech, Aquaculture and One Health sectors is also desirable.
  • Previous experience of leading or contributing to the leadership of a science park/innovation centre (or equivalent).  Demonstrating development via involvement in progressively more demanding relevant work roles.
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral), with proven problem solving and organisational skills.
  • Proven project and budget management skills
  • Experience of working independently, dealing with unforeseen circumstances and problems with confidence to work with multiple and changing priorities in a flexible way.
