Applications are invited for the post of Research & Policy Officer, based in the Centre for Effective Innovation in Agriculture (CEIA) at RAU’s School of Agriculture, Food and the Environment. There is opportunity for candidates to be based at CEIA institution Harper Adams University, in Shropshire.
The successful candidate will contribute to the work of the Centre for Effective Innovation in Agriculture (CEIA). CEIA is a collaborative virtual centre of expertise, funded by Elizabeth Creak Charitable Trust with Royal Agricultural University, Harper Adams University, Newcastle University, University of Reading, and University of Warwick. The CEIA is focused on ensuring agricultural and horticultural research supports practical innovation that is relevant to the current and future challenges faced in farming, ensuring impact at the scale and pace those challenges demand. CEIA works with policymakers, funders, industry and research to better target R&D investment.
The Research & Policy Officer will be an important addition to the CEIA team, working closely with the Manager of CEIA (based at RAU). The post-holder will be expected to engage directly with policymakers and funders of agricultural innovation. They will also be working closely with leading agricultural academics and industry leaders across the UK in the Agricultural Universities Council (AUC), as well as playing a significant role in the communication and implementation of the AUC’s projects such as the joint research strategy. The post-holder will be a key member in the development and delivery of other CEIA projects, policy briefings, evidence reviews, stakeholder meetings and dissemination activities.
We are looking for a dynamic, impact-driven person who has experience in policy, research, and industry relating to agricultural R&D and innovation. The job holder ideally has a developed understanding of the complexities of adoption of innovations in agriculture, strong project management skills, and significant experience in coordination of networks and cross-organisational partnerships.
