An exciting new post has been created to lead primary care research activity in the region with the aim of increasing research in practice and building wider research networks in primary care.

We are looking for a registered General Practitioner with a demonstrable track record in primary care research who is a highly effective research leader and has a strong publication record. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to attract research income and deliver high-impact research.

As a Senior GP Clinical Research Fellow you will:

  • Lead as Principal Investigator (PI), support and deliver primary care research working collaboratively with practices across NHS Kent and Medway
  • Develop and manage own academic research in line with the key research themes of CHSS and the priorities for primary care within NHS Kent and Medway
  • Act as a source of leadership, information and advice to other members of CHSS in areas of clinical and health services research
  • Participate in the supervision of post-graduate students

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A PhD in a relevant healthcare-related discipline or extensive experience of leading research projects
  • Clinical qualification in general practice & on the GMC GP specialist register
  • A record of leading research of international standard in primary care and/or health services research with demonstrable impact on health or health care
  • A track record of successful grant applications and managing funded awards

The University of Kent campus occupies an enviable position overlooking the historic city of Canterbury, which is less than an hour away from London via a high-speed rail link and only 20 minutes by train from Ramsgate with its historic harbour and attractive coastline. East Cliff, which was chosen as host practice through a formal competitive process, is a long-established and friendly practice with a track record of supporting research. It is dedicated to team working, professional development, communication and holistic care.
