Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences (NDCN), John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU
We are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to be a member of a research group with responsibilities for carrying out research in comparing brain organization across species using MRI and other high-throughput data with the goal of improving translational neuroscience.
Reporting to the Prof Rogier Mars and Prof Stamatios Sotiropoulos, the post holder will develop and apply advanced machine learning techniques to build comparative maps of the organization of the mouse and human brain. These maps will then be used to predict the effects of disease in human patients based on data from the mouse model. The work builds on previous work in the lab that can be found in these publications: doi:10.7554/eLife.35237 and doi:10.7554/eLife.79418.
The post holder provides guidance to junior members of the research group including research assistants, PhD students, and/or project volunteers.
The successful candidate will hold a relevant PhD/Dphil, together with relevant experience, and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes. They will also have experience using advanced data analysis techniques, the ability to manage own academic research and associated activities, and have previous experience of contributing to publications/presentations. Coding experience in Matlab, Python, or similar, and experience working with neuroimaging and/or gene expression data is desirable.
The post is full time for a fixed term of 20 months in the first instance.
Only applications received before 12:00 midday on Friday 10th February 2023 will be considered.
