We are seeking an ambitious and creative researcher to investigate the role of key intestinal G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) in host environment dialogue, in health and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The work will involve exploring the activity of GPRCs expressed at intestinal barrier surfaces, defining ligands and niche factors modulating barrier GPCR activity. The work will also involve studying how specific intestinal expressed GPCRs influence immune cell reactivity, perpetuation and inflammatory responses within the gut mucosa. The work will include use of genome engineering, large scale screens, multimodal single cell analysis, advanced imaging and tissue model creation. Post-holders will undertake a series of cell biological and molecular assays of effector function and use companion in vivo models to explore physiological attributes of intestinal GPCR activity in vivo.
The work will be conducted as part of a multidisciplinary team involving scientists specialising in molecular and cell biology; computational biologists with advanced statistical and machine learning expertise and clinicians undertaking care of IBD patients. The lab is housed in the MRC Human Immunology Unit at the MRC WIMM, a world leading molecular medicine research institute with a track record in influential discoveries leading to impact for patients.
To be considered for this position you should hold a relevant PhD with post-qualification research experience. You should also have a strong publication record and familiarity with the existing literature and research in the field.

The post is fixed term for 2 years in the first instance but there may be a possibility to extend.
