We are looking for a Research Fellow to join our team.

The opportunity:

Working with the TransFIRe consortium of 20 investigators from 12 institutions, 49 companies and 14 NGO and government organisations, the postholder will undertake research relating to achieving net-zero targets in the UK’s foundation industries, examining the environmental and community aspects of new regulations and of firms’ policies.

This post is for 6 months only with an end date no later than 31st December 2023.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant social or natural science or associated field.
  • Post-graduate training and/or research experience in case-study research in Science & Technology Studies or environmental sociology or environmental policy or an associated field including Sociology or Social Anthropology.
  • Relevant doctoral or postdoctoral experience (or equivalent work experience) of conducting ethnographic and/or qualitative research.
  • Ability to work independently but also as a member of a team, including by attending field-sites within the UK and conducting research with stakeholders.
  • Ability to establish and maintain personal working relationships with colleagues.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, supported by good IT skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including team working and a collaborative, collegiate approach.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and meet competing deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly, orally and in writing to a variety of audience.
