If you have a passion for sport and physical activity alongside a high-level of creativity and adaptability in sporting and coaching environments, this is a fantastic opportunity to join our inclusive Kent Sport team as Sports Development and Participation Manager.

You will lead and assist the Sports Development Team in delivering a comprehensive and diverse programme of sport and physical activity for both University students and staff on campus. You will also support the provision of a year-round programme of regular activity for the community, alongside a calendar of events, junior sports camps and sporting opportunities.

You will be an accomplished leader who can co-ordinate a team of Sports Development Officers, alongside an additional casual workforce consisting of sports development auxiliaries, coaches and officials that support all elements of the programme. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills whilst being an effective administrator with great attention for detail.

As Sports Development and Participation Manager you will:

  • Deliver the existing and on-going sports development and participation strategy through engagement with multiple stakeholders increasing physical activity, health and wellbeing opportunities within the University and across the local community
  • Maximise participation through the development, co-ordination and management of a comprehensive inclusive and accessible programme of sports, social and wellbeing activities and events for all levels of ability
  • Enhance the student experience by creating a diverse, comprehensive and inclusive sport and physical activity programme regardless of ability and experience
  • Be accountable for the management and overall delivery of the Sports Development Team whilst operating as a departmental line manager, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

What we are looking for in the right candidate:

  • A degree in or experience related to sport management, recreation, physical education, sports development or health and wellbeing
  • Experience of management within a sports organisation or development context with supervisory experience of leading a team
  • A passion for sport and physical activity alongside a high-level of creativity and adaptability in sporting and coaching environments
  • Experiencing of event planning and management alongside co-ordinating and leading activity sessions and events for all levels of ability including planning and delivering safe and effective children’s physical activity and sport with an awareness and attention to detail of related policy and practice.
