An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the occupational therapy tutor team at Wrexham Glyndwr University in a senior lecturing capacity. The vacancy arises at an exciting time for the University and in meeting a 10-year commissioning contract for healthcare subjects bringing opportunities and development. The newly accredited degree programme brings a contemporary curriculum commended by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and is an HCPC approved programme.
The department prides itself on a student-centred practice focus, currently 1st in Wales for teaching on my course and overall satisfaction. The tutor team is committed to delivering high quality occupational therapy education across the subject area and WGU is 2nd in the UK for teaching quality and ranked 1st in England and Wales for social inclusion. The tutor team aims to generate occupational therapy graduate practitioners who are fit for contemporary practice in all health and social care areas and beyond. We also support qualified practitioners to advance their expertise and underpinning theory base with post-graduate study.
We are looking for a person who is an experienced occupational therapist with strong clinical knowledge and skills from any area of practice. We welcome applications from individuals from a clinical background looking to move into an academic role and those who have experience in higher education. The successful applicant will be able to enthuse and inspire students to the occupational therapy role, facilitating pre-registration education of student occupational therapists through curriculum delivery across all levels and a range of modules. The successful post holder must enjoy being part of a small and cohesive team where you will have a contributory role at programme level, managing undergraduate delivery across the subject area and allied health, including being actively engaged as a personal tutor and supporting students whilst on placement.
Master’s level study is essential & Welsh language speaking is desirable. The post holder must hold current membership with the professional body, Royal College of Occupational Therapists and be registered with HCPC. There is scope for development opportunities with post graduate study including a teaching qualification, leading to fellow status with Advance HE.
Applicants invited to interview will be expected to facilitate a short session with a small group of students to facilitate learning and teaching.
