The Opportunity

The European Languages - Italian program within the School of Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics seeks to fill a continuing position at Associate Professor (Level D) or Full Professor (Level E), by an academic who has a dynamic research and teaching profile.

A primary purpose of this position to develop links with colleagues teaching across the European Languages major, and to leverage the Monash presence in Europe for research and education to ensure our European Languages program is unparalleled in Australia. The candidate should be willing and able to take on a leadership role within the European Languages program. As the successful candidate, you will take a leadership role in the Italian program’s research and teaching. You will be a distinguished scholar with a significant record of research in any area of contemporary Italian culture. Interdisciplinary and comparative approaches are particularly welcome. You will engage in original and innovative research and help lead the program’s capacity to secure funding for major research projects. You will also enhance the program’s, and the School’s ability to attract and supervise excellent graduate research students. You will take a leading role in curriculum development and delivery and will be prepared to engage in team teaching. You will also be expected to undertake a share of administrative tasks within the School.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. This position at the University will require the incumbent to hold a valid Working with Children Check.
