Job description
We are looking for world class researchers with a passion for transport safety to join our team.
The Transport Safety and Simulation (TSS) research group, part of the Institute of Clean Growth & Future Mobility (CGFM) at Coventry University, aims to create better futures by changing the way the world moves. We employ state-of-the-art simulation techniques and design tools to address future mobility safety challenges, from e-scooters, through autonomous vehicles to eVTOL aircraft, considering vulnerable road users (VRU), occupants, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and vehicle.
One of our main strength in the Transport Safety and Simulation (TSS) research group is our cutting edge experience in modelling human risk of injuries and death in transport applications, thanks to our team which consists of scientists with strong theoretical engineering and medical knowledge and industrial experience. The TSS research group is also supported by the National Transport Design Centre (NTDC) with a team of psychologists, human factors experts, industrial and automotive designers alongside engineers and experts in human systems integration.
The team is complemented with medical experts from the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) in the field of orthopedics and traumatology, as well as strong synergies with the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL), HORIBA MIRA (UK), as well as international universities experts in transport safety, namely University Gustave Eiffel in Marseilles (FR) and politecnico di torino (IT).
The research group is using explicit finite element and multi-body techniques, human body models as well as machine learning techniques to provide on-board an real-time safety solutions.
The TSS research group was awarded the Prince Michael International Road Safety Award 2021 on “Delivering Improved Pedestrian Post Crash Triage” and as a successful candidate, you will undertake interesting and exciting applied research projects.
You will also disseminate research outputs and develop external networks nationally and internationally. In return we will provide a great range of benefits which include an attractive pension scheme, generous holiday allocation, some fantastic savings on a wide range of products and services, and excellent learning and development opportunities.
If you would like to be a part of the development and growth of this important initiative and make a unique contribution to the UK’s innovation in this developing area, apply now.
