We are looking for an experienced and motivated Delivery Manager to join our Delivery Management Office. We work with departments, colleges, and other University institutions to provide a range of services to support the needs of all users at the University. This role will be based in Cambridge, with the ability work flexibly.

You'll be responsible for the delivery of digital products, both in-house and some SaaS. You will have proven experience managing product and projects through the full lifecycle. You will have experience with a range of agile delivery methods and will be comfortable adapting your approach to meet the needs of the project and team. You will be responsible for managing delivery on one or more projects, working across a variety of teams. You will be able to build relationships at all levels with experience of influencing and negotiating with key stakeholders to achieve goals.

What you will do:

  • Help the team take collective ownership for work being delivered and balance an agile approach with the need for credible plans and roadmaps
  • Identify and unblock issues
  • Ensure good communication with the team and stakeholders
  • Act as scrum master for a team
  • Focus on team health, help foster an agile mindset, adopt agile values and nurture healthy, productive teams
  • Ensure stakeholders are engaged and informed
  • Take an end-to-end view of delivery to ensure that working software (and not partially working software or UI only) is delivered

What you'll need to succeed:
Skills

  • Great communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Helping cross-functional teams to use Scrum, Kanban, lean and associated agile planning and delivery frameworks, tools and techniques
  • Problem solving and lean thinking
  • Adaptive communication skills with and the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels of an organisation and across different delivery disciplines (software development, design, testing, user research)
  • Core project management skills, including: planning at high-level and epic/story/task level, risk, issue & dependency management, reporting, budgeting
  • Tooling, including Jira, Confluence, Miro, Office, SharePoint, Teams
  • Willingness to have difficult conversations
  • Delivery focus

Experience

  • Experience managing software development projects through the full product development lifecycle
  • Experience working in agile environments with experience of Scrum and Kanban, working as a scrum master, with product management, promoting good practice and striving for continuous improvement
  • Experience of GDS or similar agile approach is desirable, but not essential
