The University of Buckingham has a unique atmosphere, unlike that of any other higher educational institution. Despite being the UK’s smallest university and the only independent university to hold a Royal Charter, Buckingham has staff from over 60 countries, making it a truly distinctive work environment. Whichever of our locations you find yourself working in, you will be sure to feel a part of our friendly community. Our size enables us to foster a very personalised, supportive, inclusive and collaborative environment, with lots of opportunity for development, something which we are very proud of.
The Corporate and Professional Services departments are the cornerstone of the University. They each provide essential and valuable support to both each other and the Academic departments, helping the University to function in the most efficient and productive way, ensuring that the students’ experience is second to none.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Apprentice to provide administrative support to our busy and friendly Faculty of Computing, Law and Psychology. The Faculty provides essential services for its students and staff, and our Apprentice will play a key role in the smooth day-to-day operation of the following areas:
The successful candidate will be a confident communicator, able to work both independently and collaboratively, and keen to learn. You will need to be conscientious and well organised in order to manage a varied workload of administrative responsibilities while completing a Business Administration Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship (equivalent to 2 A levels). Your Apprenticeship training will be undertaken together with our other Apprentices and delivered by our Apprenticeships Manager, so there will be lots of support available.
Please refer to the Job Profile for more details about the key responsibilities of this role and the qualification you will undertake.
This is a full-time role, ideally starting in April 2023, and initially employed on an 18-month fixed term contract to enable completion of the Apprenticeship standard, based at the University’s Buckingham campus. Your qualifications must include Maths and English GCSE Grade A*-C / 9-4 (or equivalent).
We know that sometimes people can be put off applying for a job if they think they can’t tick every box, but we are invested in our people and their development, so we encourage you to apply if you believe you have the majority of the skills and experience required and are keen to develop further!
If you would like an informal chat about the role before applying, please contact Laura Whitty, Faculty Administration Manager on email@example.com
The closing date for applications is Tuesday 28th February 2023
