We also provide courses for adults who are seeking work via the Council’s Job Shop.
Our main base is at Southfields Old School, CV1 5EJ, with provision delivered at around 25 other sites within Coventry, mostly in areas of highest need.
Role Responsibility
The role(s) are to support delivery, monitoring and reporting of Coventry City Council’s Make Your Money Work project.
The project forms part of central government investment in a Multiply Fund to improve numeracy skills among the adult population. The key purpose is to develop teaching materials, and deliver money management activities within community settings using a variety of methods and approaches for adults primarily in work, and provide on course and exit information in order to increase knowledge, confidence and skills in financial literacy. This will support achievement of outputs and outcomes outlined in the project proposal submitted to West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
The Ideal Candidate
We have two full time Maths tutor vacancies offered on a fixed term basis until 31st March 2024 (in the first instance).
We are looking for qualified maths tutors who have experience of designing and delivering short introductory financial literacy modules to adults who may have been out of education for some time.
You will have a successful track record in introducing maths with the aim of busting myths and tackling negative mindsets around numeracy, and developing numeracy skills around money management to provide short-term fixes to address specific skills needs and/or impacts of increased cost of living. You will need to be responsive and flexible in terms of delivery as there may not be set teaching times of the day and/or days of the week.
In addition, you will be used to delivering wrap-around information and advice linking participants to additional sources of support and advising on progression opportunities to formal maths courses and qualifications.
Following recommendations from Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) for an additional pre employment check with effect 1 Sept 22, please note, an online search may form part of this recruitment process.
Interview date: Monday 6 February 2023.
