Univ is recruiting for a full time Head Porter to manage the Lodge and a team of seven full time/part time porters. The Lodge is the welfare, information and security hub of the College, supporting students, staff and visitors on a daily basis with a range of services.
The post-holder will be responsible for leading all Lodge operations, ranging from day to day reception management, mail distribution, security monitoring, meeting and greeting to staff supervision and performance management, health and safety and fire marshal duties, while being the front line for College security and student welfare. The highest degree of professionalism, dress and deportment and confidentiality is required of the Lodge at all times and it is for the Head Porter to ensure that the professional and personal commitment of the Lodge staff is always of the highest standard.
The successful applicant will be sociable and outgoing, highly customer focused, with sound communication and people management skills. You will also need to be well organised, good at multi-tasking and flexible in your approach to work and changing demands day to day. Good bearing and a command of the respect of all members of the College is imperative, as is a compassionate and empathetic approach to people and an affinity for working with young people in an educational setting.

The College offers attractive terms and conditions including private health insurance, 30 days holiday per year, free meals while on duty etc. The starting salary is in the region of £30K but could be higher for an exceptional candidate. The working week is 36.5 hours (flexible). The post is a live in position and therefore comes with onsite accommodation provided.
