The School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics at Oxford Brookes University provides an intellectually stimulating, friendly and supportive environment in which to work and study. The School has recently embarked upon a new strategy that has seen an increase in student numbers, NSS, and the establishment of new international partnerships. We are proud hold full NCSC certification of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Cyber Security. We have also recently secured significant funding from the Office for Students, which enabled us to enhance our resources to include our state-of-the-art virtual reality Multiview Cave, Computer Integrated Manufacturing demonstrator, ABB robots and deep learning computing suite with more purchases planned.
This role offers a leadership opportunity within the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics to a highly motivated individual with strong strategic thinking, ability to develop further our vision for Cyber Security and implement it. To achieve this, they need a strong intellectual capital and ambition, as well as interpersonal and teamworking skills.
Reporting to the Head of School, Principal Lecturers have a senior role within the School. They are responsible for specifying, developing and validating new programmes that keep the portfolio of programmes current and forward looking. In particular they are responsible for delivering a high-quality experience for all students on the programmes. The Principal Lecturers have line management responsibilities for academic staff, membership of the School’s management group and work closely with the university marketing team for recruitment and publicity.
The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in developing and delivery of a range of undergraduate and/or postgraduate Cyber Security modules and programmes. They understand the processes for developing and certifying Cyber Security programmes and will be ambitious to lead on further strategic development of these programmes, to include new teaching and learning strategies. Ideally, they will also have a proven track record of research and professional practice and have been successful in attracting external funding.
