Role Summary

  • Contribute to the day-to-day coordination of Work Package 2 of the research project, ensuring that tasks and objectives are completed to a high standard and within planned timescales
  • Contribute to quantitative data collection: Self-reported quality of life and resource use
  • Identify cost data associated with resource use, from published sources and by consulting experts
  • Analyse and interpret quantitative research findings and results
  • Develop positive working relationships with staff in local authorities and organisations overseeing/facilitating FGC
  • Summarise and present findings with respect to costs and consequences of FGC
  • Contribute to the dissemination of research findings
  • Work positively with the principal investigator and co-investigators and members of the project advisory board.
  • Ensure that best practice is adhered to in relation to ethics, governance and data security.
  • Contributing to teaching and research in the wider Institute

Main Duties

 The responsibilities may include some but not all of the responsibilities outlined below.

  • Collect outcomes data using tools such as ICECAP and through methods such as face to face or telephone interviews with research participants
  • Collect data on health and social care resource use and societal costs, potentially developing questionnaires or Case Report Forms, and potentially collecting data through face to face or telephone interviews
  • Supporting project partners to collect outcomes and cost data
  • Data entry
  • Identifying monetary costs for resource use
  • Data analysis
  • Presentation of findings to project partners and at seminars and conferences
  • Preparation of publications
  • Contribution to teaching

Person Specification

  • An undergraduate degree andhigher degree (or equivalent qualifications) in economics/health economics.
  • A record of research output, appropriate to career stage.
  • Experience of engaging with research participants, or relevant experience of engaging with patients or citizens using social care.
  • Experience of coordinating research tasks, and achieving objectives within defined timescales.
  • The ability to communicate complex information clearly, to a diverse range of different audiences.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ideally, existing knowledge and/or experience relating to adult social care.
  • The ability – as evidenced through the candidate’s career/professional/voluntary experience – to show sensitivity to those sharing potentially distressing experiences.
  • A willingness to undertake training and contribute to the wider research environment.
