An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Professional Lead in Midwifery / Lead Midwife Education (LME) within the Department of Allied Health Professions, Midwifery and Social Work. We currently offer a BSc (Hons) Midwifery pre-registration programme, a MSc / Bsc (Hons) shortened programme for applicants who already hold a nursing qualification and a post-graduate MSc in Midwifery and Women’s Health. The three year BSc (Hons) Midwifery Programme is accredited as Baby Friendly by UNICEF.

Main duties and responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for providing professional leadership ranging from curricula content to strategic directions for the Midwifery profession and maintaining and enhancing strong partnerships with local providers and professional and regulatory bodies as well as teaching on the programmes. The post holder will also provide academic and line management of their subject group.
Skills and experience required
Previous management and leadership experience are essential. You will have a sound knowledge of research and experience in developing innovative ways of delivering our curricula relevant to contemporary Midwifery practice.
You will have experience in partnership working with key stakeholders, commissioners, provider organisations as well as service users and carers and require experience in the higher education sector and its political, national and international context.
Qualifications required
You will be required to have a BSc in a midwifery degree or equivalent qualification, a Masters Degree or equivalent, an experienced midwife registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and a Fellowship of Advance Higher Education.
It would be advantageous to hold a Doctorate, or you may be working towards completion of a doctoral programme.
