The Department of Geography wishes to appoint a one-year fixed-term Teaching Associate in Human Geography from 1st September 2023. This position is also suitable for those seeking part-time or other flexible working.
We are seeking a human geographer who can contribute to teaching and examining in the fields of social and political geography, with a particular focus on inequality, rights and diversity, understood at various spatial scales and locations across the globe. The successful candidate(s) would be expected to contribute to introductory human geography courses, convene a Part 1B (second-year undergraduate) citizenship and cities course and make appropriate contributions to Part 2 (final-year undergraduate) and MPhil level research-focused taught courses. In addition, they would assist with skills and methods training (at Part 1A and 1B), undergraduate and MPhil dissertation supervision and examining, and contribute to a residential field course in Easter 2024.
The role-holder will be based at the Department of Geography, where they will carry out their teaching, examining and administrative duties.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Geography or a cognate subject, possess evidence of extensive and relevant teaching experience, including in cities and citizenship, and demonstrate close familiarity with the relevant fields through high quality research publications. The post-holder may also carry out college-related supervisions or directing studies in Geography, which would be arranged independently with a college or colleges and separately remunerated.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
