The School of Psychology at Swansea University is seeking a Research Officer for the ACTIVATE study. The aim of the ACTIVATE study is to evaluate the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of an app based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) among UK Armed Forces veterans with PTSD and experience of harmful gambling.
ACTIVATE is a collaboration between Swansea University, Combat Stress, and King’s College London, and is funded by an award from the Cabinet Office and Office for Veterans’ Affairs. It is anticipated that the Research Officer will deliver the project (remotely and in-person) in partnership with the external organisations and under the supervision of Professor Simon Dymond, Principal Investigator.
One, full-time position is available for 21 months from April 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post-holder will be responsible for recruiting veterans with experience of harmful gambling and a diagnosis of PTSD, collecting, analysing and reporting on quantitative and qualitative outcomes, and the writing up of findings for publication and wider dissemination. Prior experience of working with often hard-to-reach populations, such as veterans, and demonstrated expertise in mixed-methods research are both requirements for the post.

We aim to establish an inclusive environment and welcome diverse applications from the following protected characteristics: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race (including colour, nationality, ethnic and national origin), religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation.
