Who is Staffordshire University?
We are the Connected University with 100 years of experience and ambition in becoming the UK’s foremost digital Institution. Our main campus is located in Stoke on Trent alongside our Centres of Excellence in Healthcare Education located in Stafford and Shrewsbury. Staffordshire University London’s Digital Institute is our first campus outside the Midlands.
With more than 10,000 Full Time Undergraduate and Postgraduate students on campus, we continue to drive innovation and change, aiming to positively disrupt our sector. For our university, it is about so much more than the numbers. In fact, if there’s one thing that sets us apart, it’s our people who are all #ProudToBeStaffs. Every one of our employees goes above and beyond to deliver on our connected mission, responding to the needs of our students, academic partners, businesses and society.
Over the past 5 years, we have transformed ourselves into a gold standard provider of teaching and learning, gaining historically high positions in the UK league tables. With digital skills being at our core, we strive for diversity in all its forms and play an important role in our local communities and regional economies.
About the role
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated lecturer to join our growing Esports academic team as we aim to deliver our ambitious plans. We are particularly keen to receive applications from candidates with experience of Esports Management in areas including events management, gaming culture, journalism, talent management, content creation, and ‘live’ events experience.
You will have a commitment to developing and delivering high-quality face-to-face and online teaching, have excellent communication skills and an ability to work effectively as part of a high performing team of academic staff in delivering across our range of undergraduate, and postgraduate courses.
You will have the ability to deliver an excellent student experience through creative and innovative learning, and a commitment to pastoral care, as well as actively making an impact in knowledge exchange, innovation, enterprise and/or research.
The Staffordshire Esports department sits within our School of Digital, Technologies and Arts, which provides a unique combination of disciplines that is ideally placed to respond to the growing changes in the Esports ecosystem. Alongside the teaching team you will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues from other academic disciplines including our award-winning games department, as well as other areas within the school.
You will ideally be a member of the HE Academy or hold an equivalent teaching qualification.
As an academic staff member, you will exhibit Staffordshire University values in your ‘ambitious and inspirational’ attitude and your ‘curious and daring’ approach to teaching. As well as contributing to the delivery of teaching you will be expected to undertake research, consultancy and income generating activities to contribute towards the school.
In return for your dedication, we have a competitive benefits package available
We reserve the right to close any vacancies when we are in receipt of sufficient applications.
