This post is full time and permanent, working 35 hours per week.
The School is seeking to broaden its current strengths in the area of Computer Science and Software Engineering and seeking candidates who can complement and add to the expertise of the existing members of the School. We will consider applications from individuals with research interests, and an ability to contribute to our teaching in areas related to software engineering, such as; systems architecture, algorithms and complexity, concurrency, formal methods, web, and full stack development. We specifically invite applications from candidates capable of bringing an industrial perspective of software engineering and have experience of contemporary design methodologies, architectures and platforms.
Most of the teaching duties for the post will be in the area of Computer Science and Software Engineering at undergraduate and postgraduate level, though this may vary.
We particularly welcome applications from candidates with a PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics or with the equivalent experience gained in industry.
Candidates would be expected to have considerable experience and demonstrated innovation in HE teaching, academic leadership, academic team management, (for example, course leadership), and in curriculum development. Candidates would also be expected to have experience of enabling and facilitating external industrial relationships, research grant applications, and/or knowledge exchange.
Duties will include teaching face-to-face and online, setting assessment, marking, and giving feedback, supervision of final year and post-graduate projects, and acting as a personal tutor to provide pastoral support to students. As part of the role, you will be expected to support students for competitions, work based learning and other opportunities for enterprise.
Furthermore, you will also be expected to contribute to School strategic subject based, professional or pedagogic research and development, and other scholarly activities in order to support your teaching. Staff are also encouraged to develop their external research profile and the appointee to this post will be expected to contribute to one or more of the School’s multidisciplinary research groups.
