Job description:
Make a real-world impact on cancer diagnostics through research at the forefront of molecular and computational pathology.
Join the NEOPATH research group in the Faculty of Health at the University of Sheffield as a Research Associate on an ambitious, interdisciplinary project led by Professor Ali Khurram. This role offers an opportunity to work across molecular biology, spatial biology, and digital pathology to investigate the tumour microenvironment in head and neck cancers.
You'll be part of a dynamic team integrating data from digital histology, radiology, immunohistochemistry, multiplex imaging, and spatial transcriptomics to identify prognostic and predictive biomarkers. By combining wet-lab experimentation with advanced bioinformatics, your work will contribute directly to more personalised and effective cancer treatment strategies. Our group also collaborates closely with patient groups and charities to ensure that the research remains clinically meaningful and grounded in patient impact.
We're looking for someone with expertise in molecular or cell biology and experience and computational pathology, spatial omics, or bioinformatics. You’ll join a collaborative, inclusive environment where your contributions will shape the future of cancer research.
At the University of Sheffield, you’ll be part of a community that values innovation, diversity, and wellbeing. We offer an excellent benefits package, including generous annual leave, flexible working, a leading pension scheme, and a wide range of development and wellbeing support.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
