The University of Bradford School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences is seeking to appoint a 0.5 FTE Assistant Professor in Quality Improvement and Leadership on a 2-year fixed term basis, to strengthen our sector-leading teaching of Clinical Pharmacy at the postgraduate level. The key objective of this postholder will be to develop and deliver study days as part of a Health Education England (HEE) funded contract to deliver specialist training for community mental health pharmacists nationally. We have been commissioned to provide this pathway for a further 2 years, following a successful pilot in 2022-23.
The focus of the pathway is to empower pharmacists to safely deliver the full scope of their professional capability and increase their competence in optimising medicines use for individual with severe mental illness (SMI) and associated physical illness. This is achieved using the active and collaborative learning strategy, Team-Based Learning (TBL) which is delivered online. The pathway aims to enhance the development of independent advanced practitioners by expanding clinical, consultation, assessment, leadership, service evaluation and decision-making skills. The post holder will contribute to teaching quality and service improvement and leadership aspects of advanced practice, and help to develop, deliver and assess training packages, modules and short courses to enable registered pharmacists to develop their skills.
The post holder will be an experienced practitioner with prior experience of teaching healthcare professionals or healthcare students about quality and service improvement and leadership. Applicants should have a professional background and you should hold a relevant postgraduate qualification. You will join a truly innovative School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, with a suite of postgraduate programmes, a fully integrated MPharm based on Team-Based Learning and excellence in research. You will be an experienced and enthusiastic teacher and take a proactive role in developing new learning materials alongside our highly experienced and supportive team. An independent prescribing qualification is an advantage.
This is a teaching focused post. The post holder will have the opportunity to participate in research activities in the School. The University of Bradford, and the School of Pharmacy celebrates diversity and encourages applications from under-represented groups.
