We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Laboratory manager who will be responsible for the day-to-day monitoring of the laboratory facilities, supporting the Group Leaders in their duty to manage safety in their labs. You will join the NDM Research Building.
You will support all research groups in the management of their safety responsibilities as per Oxford University policy, guidance and rules, ensuring that all work in the laboratories complies with the applicable regulations concerning all biohazards, including human and non-human tissue, and specifically comply with requirements governed by GMO, HTA and biohazard safety. You will ensure that the laboratory is prepared and mod Induction, supervision and training of all laboratory staff in the use of core equipment (centrifuges, cold rooms, cryostorage facilities, NMR room). You be responsible for maintaining all relevant documentation and to ensure risk assessments are prepared for all work within in the labs. You will also prepare SOPs and ensure COSHH records are up to date.
It is essential that you hold a first degree in life sciences or related field, or equivalent vocational qualification. You will have experience of implementing Health and Safety procedures, and knowledge of Health and Safety legislation as they relate to the scientific workplace. You will have extensive experience of working in and running medical research laboratories and an in-depth knowledge of health and safety requirements, and experience of procuring and maintaining laboratory equipment.
