We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the team at the Ludwig Cancer Research Oxford Branch.
You will be supervised by Professor Yang Shi at Ludwig Cancer Research and work closely with a medicinal chemist. Your primary responsibility will be to purify recombinant proteins and set up in vitro and in vitro for the RNA enzymes as well as a panel of additional enzymes as negative/selectivity controls in order to identify small molecules that have on-target activities towards intended RNA enzymes. You will also develop cell-based activity assays and, if possible, in vivo models to evaluate the efficacy of the compounds. You will design and perform original research, and manage own academic research and administrative activities which will small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.
It is essential that you hold a PhD (or close to completion) in Biochemistry or Cell Biology, and have strong biochemical, molecular and cell biological background. Demonstrable experience in assay development and in analysing small molecules in vitro and in vivo is essential, and the ability to manage own academic research and associated activities. You will have a good publication record, including experience independently writing scientific reports and manuscripts, and be well organised with the ability to adapt to changing project priorities.
