This is an exciting opportunity at the heart of the Department of Applied and Human Sciences for a Lecturer.
You will plan, deliver and assess across a range of Forensic Science modules L3-L7; which will include leading on topics related to DNA profiling and/or crime scene investigation, while supporting research methods and project supervision.
You will join a close-knit group of academics who are behind a varied programme of pedagogically led teaching, laboratory practicals, workshops, seminars and forward-thinking approaches to teaching and learning.
In addition to core Forensic Science concepts, you will offer training in laboratory skills using a variety of technologies and approaches to deliver high-quality training in DNA profiling that can be translated into real-world skills. Working side-by-side with talented colleagues you will be expected to contribute to duties related to course administration, as well as share knowledge and expertise through professional consultancy.
The Person
You will hold a PhD in Molecular Biology (or a closely related area) and a BSc in Forensic Science (or closely related subject). Applicants with extensive casework experience will be considered and are encouraged to apply.
A successful record of research and/or casework expertise in Forensic Science is desirable. You will use your experience of Forensic Science to promote integrated professional practice across everything you do. . Research is naturally a key part of our make-up and you are encouraged to undertake your own research challenges, developing proposals to producing outputs for publication.
Applicants will be required to demonstrate that they meet the Kingston University standards in learning and teaching, and research. By the end of the probation period, you must have achieved the relevant level of UKPSF recognition (if this has not already been obtained).
For those new to teaching, this will be through our accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching and for those experienced in teaching, through our Kingston Academic Practice Standards Framework.

This is a full time permanent role with a starting salary of £41,131 per annum.
