The mission of the UCL GOS Institute of Child Health is to maximise and advocate for the holistic health of all children, young people and the adults they will become, through world-class research, education and public engagement. The UCL GOS ICH, together with its clinical partner Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, forms the largest concentration of children’s health research outside North America. About the role

Applications are invited for two Applications Specialist positions within the microarray stream at UCL Genomics, UCL’s largest g enomics facility, based in the Zayed Centre for Research into Rare Disease in Children. UCL Genomics provides cutting-edge technologies, expert guidance, and comprehensive support to enable high-quality genomic research. These posts have arisen due to the large increase in projects to this important stream. The postholders will be responsible for the end-to-end workflows of all methylation clinical microarray processing projects. The postholders will also support the extractions, quality control and genotyping streams. The positions contain a strong element of collaboration and service provision, and a large proportion of the work will involve provision of genomics services for both internal and external users. The postholder will be expected to work closely with a range of collaborators including scientists, clinicians, industry professionals, service facility providers and PIs as well as other facility staff to ensure projects are delivered in a timely manner. These posts are avai lable initially until December 2027 with the possibility of extension.

About you

We are seeking two highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals with a strong interest in genomic technologies and considerable practical experience in molecular biology techniques. In particular, the successful candidate will have hands-on experience of microarray technology and sample quality control procedures. Experience of methylation microarray processing and data handling would be desirable, although full training will be provided. We are particularly interested in candidates who are keen to develop their expertise within a collaborative genomics facility and contribute to the delivery of a high-quality service provision. As key members of the team, we are seeking effective team players who can work collaboratively with others but is also able to work independently and manage their own workload. A proactive approach, attention to detail, good communication skills and a commitmen t to providing an excellent service will be important attributes for success in this role.
