An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Technician to work within the School of Medicine’s Nottingham Respiratory Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), part of the £23.3M NIHR BRC. The Senior Technician appointed to this post will be primarily based at the Clinical Sciences Building, City Hospital campus, working in a busy clinical trials area, providing laboratory support to research studies into asthma, COPD, Lung fibrosis and other lung diseases.  As a member of the team one of the key roles will be to process samples and the maintenance of facilities and equipment within the area to allow the safe and effective use of the laboratory.  

Candidates should possess a minimum of HNC in relevant subject and extensive work experience in a relevant technical/scientific role. An interest in Respiratory Medicine and experience of handling relevant samples will be an advantage. Demonstrated understanding of health and safety regulations and procedures, with experience in handling human tissue and the law surrounding HTA is highly desirable.  The post will require flexibility, dynamism, energy and initiative, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and good communication skills.  The successful candidate will take a positive and flexible approach to work in order to deal with a variety of requests and tasks.

This post is offered on a fixed term contract until 31 March 2025. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week); however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week).
