This is your chance to join Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) in pioneering a new era of responsive, student-centred medical education.

KMMS opened to its first cohort to students in 2020 and is now teaching the first three years of the five year Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (BM BS) programme.  KMMS has been created to be a beacon for first-class medical education and research. Bringing together the resources of the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University, our whole ethos is one of partnership.

We are now seeking an inspirational educator and role model for the combined roles of Academic Lead and Senior Lecturer, to play a key role in coordinating the development and delivery of teaching and assessment in Year 5 of our undergraduate medicine programme.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a major contribution to the effective delivery of the curriculum, introducing teaching innovation and providing leadership in all aspects of the fifth year of the programme.

To make your mark in this role, you will be suitably qualified with significant contemporary expertise in undergraduate clinical education in curriculum delivery and evaluation. We expect you to have a track record of excellence in teaching along with a healthy attitude to change and new challenges and a co-operative approach that matches our own. This is an exciting role for a gifted and experienced clinical educator to help lead the advancement of the clinical practice elements of our programme by engaging with a wide range of partners.

As Senior Lecturer and Academic Lead for Year 5 BM BS you will:

  • lead the development and organisation of the teaching of all content within Year 5 of the BM BS programme
  • deliver high quality undergraduate level learning and teaching activities
  • liaise with and support Module, Subject, Student Selected Component and Vertical Theme Leads to ensure delivery of curriculum and associated assessments to a high standard
  • undertake student supervision responsibilities including feedback, support and advice

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • a UK recognised primary medical qualification and current registration and licence to practise with the GMC
  • a higher degree or equivalent qualification in a related field or equivalent experience, or Membership or Fellowship of a Royal College, or equivalent
  • academic credibility with a track record of excellence in teaching
  • significant evidence of contemporary expertise and experience in curriculum and assessment design, implementation and evaluation in undergraduate clinical, healthcare or medical education
  • a proven ability to work co-operatively and collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to multi-disciplinary projects
