About us

Applications are invited for an enthusiastic, confident and proactive individual for this Associate Lecturer (Teaching) in Applied Health Research position, which is available from June 2023. The Associate Lecturer will be responsible for developing the research capacity building activities of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) North Thames Academy, based in the Department of Applied Health Research within UCL Institute of Epidemiology and Health Care (www.ucl.ac.uk/iehc).

About the role

The post holder will be expected to contribute to the delivery of the Academy training programme and design of new courses or options, to research towards the advancement of the subject, and to show promise of continuing development of a scholar, and to perform administrative duties allocated to an acceptable standard. This post is primarily a teaching and training post, and the post holder will be expected to commit most of their time delivering a training programme for increasing capacity in applied health research. The post holder will also undertake high quality applied research in line with the interests and remit of the Academy and build collaborations between the ARC and our partners.

About you

The Associate Lecturer will hold or will soon be awarded a PhD in a discipline relevant to applied health research, or equivalent relevant experience. Experience of undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching and other forms of public presentation of applied health research is essential. It would be advantageous for the post-holder to have a quantitative or mixed-methods background, and experience of online teaching. Main purpose of the job: - Coordinating delivery of our programme of short training courses for health and care professionals, both face to face and online, including contributing to the development of new courses and activities around strategic priorities. - Supporting the ARC North Thames PhD programme Assisting with development and delivery of Academy evidence implementation activities. - Leading development of an evaluation framework to assess the impact of ARC training for capacity and capability building. - Leading monitoring and reporting activities for the Academy. - Contribute to extending our successful mentoring and alumni initiatives to train established researchers as mentors to support researchers to develop research in areas of unmet need.
