The Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) at Lingnan University strives to create an institutional culture that values, rewards and sustains engagement, innovation and excellence in learning and teaching.  We promote outcomes-orientated, high-impact teaching practices in Liberal Arts Education that foster deep, lifelong learning and, ultimately, student success. 

It is an exciting time to join the Teaching and Learning Centre with an approved Strategic Plan and work across four areas of strategic priority: Learning Enhancement, Learning Innovation, Learning Analytics and Learning Design

We are seeking an outstanding individual to join our Learning Innovation initiative as a Manager, Teaching and Learning Technology.

Responsibilities 

  • As a strategic lead to assure the development and implementation of smart teaching, learning and other cutting-edge pedagogies with the help of new digital education technologies
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to align virtual, physical and informal learning spaces and expand flexible learning arrangements
  • Lead and develop the Learning Innovation Community of Practice (CoP) and other evolving communities as needed to promote Learning Innovation. Coordinate and implement all aspects of professional development as related to Learning Innovation for staff members and students
  • Benchmark and implement regular reviews of the practices, projects and processes of the Learning Innovation strategic priority
  • Lead and/or collaborate with faculty members on Teaching Development Projects to implement or pilot Learning Innovation
  • Collect views from the University’s community on an ongoing basis about the effectiveness of the University’s innovative approaches related to teaching and learning, so as to propose strategic initiatives for development and advancement
  • Publish and present as appropriate to disseminate the activities of the Learning Innovation Strategic Priority and advance the scholarship of teaching and learning
  • Supervise and manage staff and project teams to achieve the objectives of Learning Innovation initiative
  • Contribute to other tasks as assigned to lead, manage, develop, implement and evaluate all aspects of the Learning Innovation Strategic Priority in alignment with the TLC Strategic Plan

Requirements 

  • Ideally at least 10 years of experience in implementing innovative educational technologies-related projects for the University
  • Experience in providing instructional technology consulting, outreach, teaching and support in a higher educational setting
  • Strong system analysis and develop skills in various types of systems (e.g. mobile applications, educational games, online repository platforms, learning management systems, portfolio systems and content management systems, etc.)
  • Strong project organizing and planning skills, such as annual planning, preparation and professional development in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders
  • Strong proposal and report writing skills for technical projects
  • A broad understanding of programming languages including PHP, Java, Objective C, C++ and JavaScript
  • A broad understanding of computer server platforms including application, web, directory, authentication and database servers
  • Demonstrate interests in educational technology, instructional design, pedagogical innovation, and professional growth and a capacity to instill that interests in others
  • Good interpersonal skills, and ability to supervise and motivate project teams 

Candidates with less / more experience will also be considered for appointment at a relevant rank. 

Salary and Fringe Benefits

The rank and commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity.
