This role has a broad remit with a focus on supporting the EDU team to implement equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) activities and initiatives in line with the University’s strategic equality objectives. You will be responsible for supporting the team with delivery of activities across several different areas, including the development of a strategy for supporting disabled staff, the launch of an LGBTQ+ Steering Group, the development of tools and guidance to better support neurodivergent staff, and activities related to Athena Swan and the race equality strategy. You will also support EDU team members and the Chief Diversity Officer to hold events and symposia, and to undertake communications on strategic areas of EDI.

About the Role
You will be responsible for supporting the team in delivering a number of EDI activities and projects over the next year, coordinating initiatives meetings and events with a friendly and open team of EDI professionals. You will work with team members to launch activities in a number of areas, including the launch of an LGBTQ+ Steering Group, a strategy to better support disabled and neurodivergent staff, and activities related to Athena Swan and race equality.
You will work with the EDU team and the CDO’s office to plan and organise events, workshops, and webinars in support of building the EDI community and progressing the EDI strategy. You will build and maintain relationships with the University’s equality networks and other key stakeholder groups to understand EDI-related concerns and feed these into decision-making processes as relevant. You will also support the head(s) of the Equality and Diversity Unit to manage the Equality and Diversity Panel, including preparing papers, and progressing recommendations and actions arising out of meetings.
About You
This is a new post, and we are looking to recruit a passionate advocate for equality, diversity and inclusion with demonstrable communication and project coordination skills, and a willingness to develop new skills as required.
