The Centre for Cardiovascular Science is looking for an individual to contribute to the management and publishing of work funded by The University of Edinburgh, which is positioned to understand and exploit the inflammatory mechanisms of hypertension and associated target organ damage with a particular focus on vascular and neuroimmune mechanisms.
The post will involve analysis of immune cells and their function in vascular remodelling regeneration in hypertension and manipulating their functions and assessing therapeutic gain in models of disease (angiotensin II-induced hypertension, spontaneous hypertension models etc). Key immunology, molecular biology and genetic approaches will be undertaken. Studies will encompass translational aspects by looking in hypertensive patient populations.
