Job description
The School of Life Course & Population Sciences is one of five Schools that make up the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King’s College London. The School unites experts across 5 departments, Women and Children’s health, Nutritional Sciences, Population Health, Ophtalmology and Twins & Genetic Epidemiology.
The post holder will join the School’s Technical Services team and be responsible for providing comprehensive technical support to the School’s research and teaching activities in the Franklin-Wilkins Building on Waterloo Campus, supporting Principal Investigator teams from the department of Nutritional Sciences.
An important aspect will be to provide oversight, advice and guidance on managing and monitoring all issues relating to health and safety, including a wide range of risks and hazards, ensuring compliance with legislation and College/University policy. The post holder will be expected to liaise with PI’s, research staff and students to ensure a safe working environment is maintained. Managing the campus laboratories, they will be responsible for planning the maintenance & servicing of laboratory equipment and be the main contact for liaising between researchers, King’s Estates and external contractors, maintaining the School’s laboratory infrastructure.
The successful applicant will have excellent communication, planning and leadership skills. They will be expected to forge relationships with colleagues in the university, including technical managers within the School and Faculty. They will be highly motivated, well organised and able to operate independently and cooperatively to achieve School objectives.
A research background in cell biology and technical support to laboratories or research facilities would be an advantage.
