Warwick Innovations is the Technology Transfer Office and commercialisation arm of the University of Warwick. Our goal is to benefit society by enabling the innovations arising from the world-leading research at Warwick to get into public use. Our role is to provide real-world expertise, advice and support services to the University’s academic innovators from any of Warwick’s departments, disciplines and interdisciplinary research groups and to guide the translation of innovation into society.
As the leading Midlands University for the successful creation of new spin-out companies, Warwick Innovations is now seeking a Business Development Associate to join its team.
The role involves developing strong relationships with the University’s researchers, with industrial, commercial and social enterprise partners and with investors and sponsors to help take the University’s intellectual property into use in society. Supported by an experienced Business Development Manager, you will manage a portfolio of about 10 projects in development, with responsibility for driving the knowledge exchange and translation aspects of up to 3 key projects at any one time. Your activities will include innovation assessment and development, mentoring, training, business planning, legal and contractual requirements, deal negotiation, budgeting, marketing, company set-up, grant funding, investment and recruitment of personnel. All skills which we will help you develop along with the others necessary to move to a more senior role.
To enable us to cover the wide range of research at Warwick we are looking for creative social scientists, scientists or engineers with postgraduate research degrees, strong written communication and marketing skills. Ideally we are looking for candidates with entrepreneurial experience and passion to help others achieve. Candidates looking to change careers into the public sector are particularly welcome.
