The Department of Civil Engineering in the School of Infrastructure and Sustainable Engineering (SISE) at Aston University seeks applicants for a Lecturer position in Civil Engineering. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a keen interest in student learning and teaching, and who has great potential to develop an internationally recognised research profile. We give a strong emphasis on student engagement, project-oriented learning, and employability. Excellent communication and organisational skills with strong commitments to inspiring teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels are, therefore, vital.
We are inviting applications from a candidate with an aptitude to cover one or two main areas in civil engineering with an interest in sustainability and climate resiliency in the context of infrastructure engineering. The ability to develop innovative modes of course delivery, assessment, and curriculum design will be taken as a great advantage.
PhD in Civil Engineering or in a closely aligned discipline with teaching experience, excellent publication records, and demonstrable evidence to develop an internationally recognised research profile are required.
We are striving to develop a research centre in the Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering and Management theme and have growing research portfolios in highway engineering, innovative construction materials, infrastructure sensing, digital twins, and the circular economy. We also collaborate closely with the two research institutes in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS). For further information please visit the following links.
Industrial experience and professional qualification (CEng) or working towards professional qualification will be highly desirable.
