You will join a growing School of around 100 academic staff, alongside postdoctoral research fellows and professional services staff, and ca. 1100 undergraduate, MSc and PhD students. New university facilities include the Central Teaching Laboratory, Teaching and Learning Building, Library, and Sports Centre. Research infrastructure to enhance teaching includes the Ecological Change (ECOLAB) facility, and the £30M Birmingham Institute of Forest Research (BIFoR) Free-Air Carbon Enrichment experiment. We draw extensively on the diverse and dynamic Birmingham city-region for our taught programmes. Students have an excellent track record of employability globally, in consultancies, local authorities, public agencies and development companies, all of which makes Birmingham a rich, exciting environment for teaching. We also have a new campus in Dubai and there will be an opportunity to contribute to teaching, both in-person and remotely.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to equity and be expected to broaden participation among members of under-represented groups; demonstrate through their research, teaching, and/or public engagement the value of multiple perspectives as the foundation of a rich learning experience; integrate diverse experiences into instructional methods and research tools; and/or provide leadership in developing pedagogical techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles, populations, and intellectual interests.
