About the role 

Our operations (website, virtual learning environment, back-end systems and database) rely on an in-house CMS system developed internally using PHP and SQL. You’ll be joining a fantastic, small team of developers who are responsible for the creation and implementation of new features, as well as enhancement and maintenance of our current platform.

You will have a can-do attitude, passion for technology, proof of development experience, and will be able to get up to speed quickly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development and maintenance of front-end components of the Point Blank website
  • Interface front-end components with back-end system
  • Programming, scripting, creating queries using languages such as SQL (MySQL), PHP, JavaScript (JQuery library), HTML5 and CSS3 (Less preprocessor)
  • Coding projects that are accurate, effective, efficient, secure, standards-based, completed by designated timelines with appropriate testing protocols and sufficiently documented so that a fellow team-member familiar with the specific programming language can determine program flow and make modifications based upon the associated documentation
  • Employing secure coding practices

Person Specification - Essential

Education

  • Educated to A Level or an equivalent Level 3 qualification.

Experience

  • Solid, demonstrable experience in a programming / development role - designing, developing, and testing software to meet requirements and design specifications.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrable collaboration skills and ability to work in a team and facilitate collaboration.
  • Adaptability and flexibility.
  • Ability to transform discussions into viable, value-added services.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Willing to seek continuous improvement.
  • Confident using SQL (MySQL), PHP, JavaScript (JQuery library), HTML5 and CSS3 (Less preprocessor)
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and prioritisation skills in the midst of multiple tasks while retaining attentiveness to detail.

  • Educated to degree level.
  • Relevant development or programming qualification.

  • Mobile app development skills
  • AWS environment administration
  • Apache server configuration
  • Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator
