We would like to recruit a candidate who shares these research and knowledge exchange ambitions and can contribute to the research culture at Solent, joining our active research community. In your role, you will be supported to be involved in research, knowledge exchange and scholarly activity.  

The Department of Business and Law at Solent University, Southampton is seeking an Associate Lecturer to teach within the Accountancy and Finance team on the two tax modules that is covered across the curriculum. These modules carry credit towards the degree, but also professional body exemptions. There is a 2nd year module that introduces the students to the core concepts and then a 3rd year module that takes this onwards to the advanced level. The role is overall responsible for the effective leading of the modules including the development and delivery of the module learning activities and also the assessment and feedback, ensuring the module delivers in a way that enhances the student experience and supports the student employability and attainment.

We are looking for an associate lecturer who is a team player who will be able to bring experience and knowledge of the subject area to ensure the content of the modules remains relevant to industry and up to date. You will need to have good people’s skills, work quickly to deadlines and have good time management skills. The successful applicant should have a strong current industry background in taxation.   

We are seeking a candidate who has relevant HE teaching and/or industry experience within tax and it is desirable to have a Higher Education qualification too.

The expectation is that the candidate will demonstrate the ability to support the leading of the modules including the development of course content, module teaching working closely with the course leader, ensuring research-led teaching, writing and marking of assessments, engaging in pastoral support where applicable and to deliver the Universities objectives and uphold Solent Values.

This post will be to start teaching in September 2023/24, but it is expected that the start date will precede this for the necessary induction and preparation of materials. Interviews will be w/b 12th or w/b 19th June 2023 and you will be expected to give a 10-minute micro teaching presentation on a tax related subject.

This post is Fixed Term until 31/07/2023 which may be extended.
