Background
The School of Policy and Global Affairs is an internationally excellent centre of research and learning on the human condition in all its dimensions. It is home to about 2,500 students and over 100 staff in three departments (Economics, Sociology and Criminology, and International Politics). The School aims to attract outstanding members of academic staff who will produce world-leading and internationally excellent research of benefit to society, provide innovative and exciting programmes of study, and enrich the lives and enhance the career prospects of its students.
The Department of Economics is a dynamic centre for research with core research strengths in microeconomics (both applied and theoretical), macroeconomics, development economics, financial economics and health economics. It has hosted several academic conferences in recent years and runs external and internal seminar series. The Department delivers a growing PhD Programme alongside highly successful BSc and MSc programmes and is part of the South East Network for Social Sciences (SeNSS). Responsibilities
The Department is seeking to appoint an outstanding academic as Lecturer (Grade 6/7) or Senior Lecturer (Grade 8). Candidates should be able to deliver excellent education and produce world-leading and internationally excellent publications. They will supervise and mentor students and undertake administrative duties at all levels.
Person Specification
Candidates will need to have a PhD in Economics or a cognate field. In addition, candidates applying for Senior Lecturer level should have a track record of internationally excellent publications in Economics with a clear plan for submission for future REF exercises, successful grant capture from external bodies and substantive plans for new grant applications. We welcome applications from all fields in Economics and Finance.
