The School of Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences (SRES) was created in August 2017 bringing together a diverse community of academics. As a large school, we offer a wide range of courses to our students with a blend of experiential learning. SRES is recognised across the world for taking excellence in education and research equally seriously. We deliver courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, on subjects such as sports and exercise sciences and psychology, physiotherapy, sports therapy, and sports performance.
The University of Essex has significantly expanded its state-of-the-art facilities for research and education with the opening of a new facility in January 2018 with further renovation in Summer 2021. We are a dynamic, research active school, consisting of emerging and world-leading researchers with an international reputation for cutting-edge research. As part of this development and fantastic REF results, SRES continues to invest significantly in new research and teaching provision.
The School is currently recruiting a lecturer to join our diverse community of scholars to deliver in the BSc (Hons) Sports Performance and Coaching and the MSc Coaching Science programmes.
Duties of the Role
To develop research and education within the School of Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences, through the establishment of an internationally excellent research programme, the publication of high-quality research papers and the development of innovative teaching methods. To supervise postgraduate research students and to carry out such teaching and administration duties as requested by the Head of School.
Skills and qualifications required
You should have a relevant doctoral level research degree or equivalent professional experience or practice or be close to completion of PhD, have Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, or the ability to gain professional recognition at this or a higher level if appropriate, and hold, or be close to completion of, a minimum level 2 coaching qualification or equivalent.
As part of the process and to be successful you will be required to demonstrate how you your research has been impactful within and beyond the academic sphere, recognising the importance of this and the effect it will have on the University.
