We are now looking for a Principal MIS Data Officer to join our team

THE ROLE

You’ll assist in the production and reporting of student and other data. The post holder will work closely with Corporate Services, Registry and Finance, as well as University Institutes and other Professional Services.  

Reporting to the Executive Systems Development Officer, the post holder will lead on at least one technical aspect within the MIS Data team and will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximise the benefit of University data. 

ABOUT YOU

To be considered as a Principal MIS Data Officer you will need:

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification or extensive experience in a relevant subject area.
  • Experience of producing data returns and working to deadlines
  • Familiarity in analysing, amending and extracting data from a relational database, preferably a student records database
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL and/or similar programming languages
  • Ability to handle high volume data including creating and manipulating detailed spreadsheets and databases
  • Demonstrate the ability to produce concise and readable management information on complex data or technical issues 

The following would be beneficial to your role:

  • Previous experience of working with HE statutory returns
  • Experience in Agile Scrum workload management
  • An understanding of Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence and Business Reporting.
  • Ability to perform SSRS and PowerBI programming or willingness to develop these skills.
  • Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh (oral and written).
