Florida State University in London seeking Maths Instructor
Florida State University seeks an instructor to teach several maths courses for freshmen undergraduates at its London study centre in Bloomsbury for Fall 2023. The semester runs from 30 August to 14 December 2023. All teaching is done face to face.
There are three courses: MAC1105 College Algebra, the introductory course for freshmen intending to pursue majors in social sciences as well as sciences; MAC1140 Pre-Calculus Algebra, which follows on from College Algebra; and MAC2311 Calculus with Analytic Geometry I, for those intending to pursue science and engineering majors, who have tested out of the previous two courses.
Classes meet once a week in a three-hour block, either morning or afternoon, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays. Class size is typically 8 to 20 students.
The remuneration (with PhD) will be £3,600 per course for class sessions and associated preparation and marking. We are open to hiring more than one person and to dividing the courses between candidates in order to fit with their other commitments.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Mathematics and previous teaching experience. Experience of working with US study abroad students is desirable. More information about our program can be found at www.international.fsu.edu/london.
To be considered, a candidate must already have the right to work in the UK.
To apply for the position, please send a CV and covering letter to Dr Lisa Bowers Isaacson at lbowersi@fsu.edu (via the ‘Apply’ button above).
Interviews will be arranged on a rolling basis. For further information email or call 020 7813 3223.
