Purpose of the job:

The overall purpose of this post is to contribute to the development and maintenance of the College’s academic standards and its quality assurance and enhancement processes. The post holder will be expected to make a significant contribution to the preparation of DAPs-ready documents and manage the preparation and implementation of transition arrangements. The Quality Assurance and Enhancement Manager will report directly to the Head of Quality Assurance, but will be expected, on a day-to-day basis, to work closely with the Academic Project Manager (DAPs).

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, maintain and implement the College’s (in prospect) Academic Standards and Quality Assurance manuals and procedures. Ensure that these are updated annually, approved by the relevant committees and boards, and that all staff, students and other stakeholders have the opportunity to contribute to their development.
  2. Support the review and development of the College’s academic policies and procedures by maintaining awareness of H.E. initiatives and developments, including changes to the regulatory framework for higher education, the UK Quality Code and awarding body/validating partner regulations.
  3. Contribute to the review of the suite of academic policies and procedures, identifying any DAPs-related omissions or requirements for future revisions.
  4. Contribute to the New DAPs working group for Criterion B, Academic Standards and Quality Assurance and any other DAPs-related working groups as required.
  5. Develop procedures and design, review or modify associated forms to ensure that policies can be effectively implemented. Ensure that there is appropriate consultation with relevant staff and senior management and processes in place for ongoing monitoring and review.
  6. Prepare DAPs-ready programme approval documentation including external examining, validation and modification processes and forms.
  7. Prepare report templates and an implementation plan for the DAPs-ready annual quality reporting cycle including the Module Evaluation and Monitoring Reports (MEMR)/module logs, Programme REP Reports/course logs, College Review and Enhancement Report (CRER), or similar reports.
  8. Contribute to the student experience by proposing or revising initiatives for the continuous enhancement of the quality of learning opportunities ensuring that ongoing monitoring and feedback processes are in place.
  9. Contribute to communication with and training of staff and students on DAPs-related documents, processes and procedures during the DAPs probationary period and throughout the transition to Full DAPs.
  10. Support the work of the wider Quality Assurance Team during busy periods.

Person Specification and Key Skills (E - essential, D - desirable):

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent (E)
  • Experience of preparation for a DAP's submission and/or recent experience as a DAP's assessor (D)
  • Experience of process review and development (D)
  • Knowledge and experience of regulatory frameworks in Higher Education (E)
  • Experience in making recommendations to senior management on quality assurance and enhancement matters (D)
  • Experience of Higher Education Internal and External Verification procedures (D)
  • Experience in developing good working relationships with colleagues (E)
  • Ability to write and present high-quality reports and documents (E)
  • Methodical and accurate approach with meticulous attention to detail (E)
