The Department of Architecture and Built Environment is now seeking exceptional scholars to join us as Assistant Professors/Associate Professors in Architecture.
About the School/Department
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Architecture and Built Environment to get engaged with teaching and research in a dynamic working environment. Focused on sustainability and innovation, the Department provides a unique opportunity for excellent scholars to play a vital role in delivering our RIBA-validated Architecture Course. The Department also offers an undergraduate degree in Architectural Environmental Engineering, a Postgraduate degree in Sustainable Urbanism, and Ph.D. programmes. We provide an international platform to nurture critical thinkers and deliver world-class research that fosters collaboration internally and externally. We continuously work with major stakeholders in the industry and various organisations. With Chinas growing economy, we are leading by example toward low carbon and sustainable development.
About You
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching and curriculum development for the undergraduate programme of Architecture and contribute to the postgraduate programme of Sustainable Urbanism, playing a leading role in collaborative research projects and conducting original research and publications in the areas of architectural/urban design, architectural practice, digital architecture/design, and architectural technologies.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree and preferably a postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant Architectural discipline, preferably in Architecture, Architectural/Urban Design, Architectural Technologies, Digital Design/Architecture, or related fields, and excellent communication and presentation skills in English. The ideal candidate has a mix of academic and design practice experience and is expected to lead a design studio/studio unit setting a contemporary agenda, as well as teaching modules related to architectural technology and practice. Experience of supervising Ph.D. and Master students and experience of teaching, tutorial or laboratory work at undergraduate and postgraduate level in an international English-speaking institution are preferable.
Your Remuneration, Benefits and Support
Successful candidate will be offered a five-year contract that may be extended by mutual agreement. We are committed to providing competitive employment packages while supporting the wellbeing of our staff to help them reach their full potential. Salary will be within the range of RMB 439,794 to RMB 579,126 per annum for Assistant Professor, RMB 620,374 to RMB 762,597 per annum for Associate Professor, depending on qualifications and experience (salary progression beyond this is subject to performance). In addition, you will have a range of benefits and entitlements, including accommodation allowance, insurances, schooling support, home flight, relocation repatriation support, and paid annual leave.
